Sagingan Festival

Sagingan Festival is a feast in honor of San Isidro Labrador held every 17th of October at Tubod, Lanao Del Norte This festival is a thanksgiving celebration for rich harvest of the fruit. Participants in this event wears costumes made of Banana.In thanksgiving for the earth’s bounty, Tubod holds the Sagingan Festival. A street dancing contest and agro-industrial trade fair are the high points. Sagingan refers to a banana farm; saging means banana, the town’s chief product.

Fiestang Kuliat

If you are looking for a month-long party or festival, the best that you can find in the Philippines is perhaps the fiestang kuliat celebrated during the month of October. Not only does this festivity celebrate the strength of Angelenos, but also their unshakable spirit to overcome great tragedies. It encompasses two of the most celebrated festivals in the city, the La Naval festival (Blessed Virgin of the the Holy Rosary) and the fiesta nang apung mamacalulu (the Lord of the Holy Sepulcher) to honor the patron saints.

The month-long celebration also highlights the Tigtigan Terakan Queng Dalan (dancing and merrymaking in the streets) which allows people to sing and dance in the street of Balibago.

Pagoda Festival

 

The Pagoda sa Wawa is held every first Sunday of July in Bocaue, Bulacan, in honor of the Holy Cross of Wawa (Mahal na Krus sa Wawa). The festival is also known as the Bocaue River Festival, Bocaue Pagoda Festival, and the Pista ng Mapagpalang Krus sa Wawa (Fiesta of the Blessed Cross of Wawa). The main attraction of the celebration is the fluvial parade of the pagoda or decorated barge and colorful small boats. Legend states that the forefathers of Bocaue extracted the Holy Cross of Wawa from the river 200 years ago, and the celebration is in commemoration of this event. A well-known story tells of a woman who was saved from drowning by a floating cross which is presumed to be the Holy Cross of Wawa.

International Oyster Festival – Ireland

Each year, on the last weekend of September, Galway City celebrates the Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival, the most internationally recognised Irish festival after St Patrick’s Day and the world’s longest running Oyster Festival.

Hermanus Whale Festival – South Africa

The Hermanus Whale Festival started 25 years ago in the coastal town of Hermanus.  Residents and visitors celebrate the migration of Southern Right Whales and other marine wildlife with ocean-themed activities and exhibitions, emphasising education and environmentally responsible adventures and activities.

From the 30th of September till the 2nd of October 2016 the Hermanus Whale Festival is celebrating the only enviro-arts festival in South Africa, “putting the creatures of the deep on stage and under the spotlight alongside top performers and musicians.

” Hermanus, known as the best land-based whale watching destination in the world, plays host to thousands of visitors (2014 we welcomed over 100 000 visitors) who flock to the seaside resort to exhilarate in the unique natural environment, watch the whales and revel in music, enjoy great food and enjoy the many activities available during the festival .

Tambobo Festival

The Tambobo Festival centers on the local ware in Ajuy where people store their goods for safekeeping and storage purposes.  

The festival is a thanksgiving for the town’s human, material, and natural wealth. Highlighted in the festival are cultural performances. As with other town the festival is welcomed with a lavish feast in gratitude for the crops and blessings received by the community.
